Force’s next-generation CATVLinx optical transport links offer a three-tiered approach to affordable, highly reliable multichannel CATV transmission. Encompassing six products with three ranges of performance, Force, Inc. can provide a solution to fit any CATV end user’s application. Today’s CATV networks use a hybrid fiber/coax (HFC) configuration to reduce cost while increasing performance and transmission range. As the term implies, an HFC network uses coaxial cable for shorter transmission lengths between video equipment and the transmitter, or the receiver and the cable customer’s television, while the path between the transmitter and the receiver uses single-mode optical fiber to greatly extend transmission distances. Even in limited distance applications, this combination allows the system designer to use the lowest cost solution for each portion of the network.
