Weighing less than a half a kilogram, the Iridium® telephone by Motorola doubles as a satellite and a cellular (terrestrial) wireless phones. With a dual-mode phone, moving between local networks is as easy as inserting a different radio cassette – each one compatible with a different local cellular standard. For Iridium® system access, the unit also includes a Subscriber Identity Module (SIM) card. The key to enhanced personalized telephone features and security, your SIM card, prevents anyone from using your phone without proper authorization. Similar in design to Motorola’s popular cellular phones, Iridium® telephones use digital facilities for maximum clarity and signal quality. Motorola cellular cassettes will be available in GSM 900 or CDMA/AMPS/NAMS 800 standards.
